Brothers and I swam here a handful of times. But it was a public space.
It was called Aqualand back in the 60s. The caption reads "AQUALAND: Duarte's newest recreation facility is providing many happy hours for residents according to Tom Densham, Chairman of Parks and Recreation Commission. The members of the Commission are also pleased with the result of their efforts . . . ."
Our great neighbors, Frank and Brenda Flannigan, had a pool, and they welcomed us with an open invitation. So did our great friends, the Larsens, Keith and Ricky, and their parents. We even swam a handful of times at the Police Academy pool in Elysian Park north of Dodgers Stadium.
